Logical Song

Adjectives and Adverbs

Roger Hodgson (former Supertramp lead singer an songwriter) wrote this song when he was still in his teens.

1. Supply an adjective or an adverb derived from the words in brackets to fill in the gaps in the lyrics.

When I was young, it seemed that life was so 1______ (wonder),
a miracle, oh it was 2________ (beauty), magical.
And all the birds in the trees, well they'd be singing so 3______ (happy),
oh 4______ (joy), oh 5________ (play), watching me.
But then they sent me away to teach me how to be 6________ (sense),
7_______ (logic), oh responsible, practical.
And then they showed me a world where I could be so 8_______ (depend),
oh clinical, oh 9_______ ( intellect), cynical.

2. Complete the gaps with an appropriate word from the ones given below:

simple       criminal   deep    respectable   asleep    absurd

There are times when all the world's 1_____,
the questions run too 2_____
for such a 3_____ man.
Won't you please, please tell me what we've learned
I know it sounds 4_____
but please tell me who I am
I said now watch what you say they'll be calling you a radical,
a liberal, oh fanatical,  5_____.
Won't you sign up your name, we'd like to feel you're
acceptable, 6_____, oh presentable, a vegetable!
Oh Take it take it yeah!

Chorus

Who knows who's so logical.

Now listen to the song and check your answers.
