Love never dies

The marvellous Kate Bush, singing Wuthering Heights, a song inspired in the novel by English author Emily Brontë - the story of a love that never dies.

Wuthering Heights Lyrics

Out on the wiley, windy moors
We'd roll and fall in green
You had a temper, like my jealousy
Too hot, too greedy
How could you leave me
When I needed to possess you?
I hated you, I loved you too

Bad dreams in the night
They told me I was going to lose the fight
Leave behind my wuthering, wuthering
Wuthering Heights

Heathcliff, it's me, Cathy, I've come home
I'm so cold, let me in in-a-your-window
Heathcliff, it's me, Cathy, I've come home
I'm so cold, let me in in-a-your-window

Oh it gets dark, it gets lonely
On the other side from you
I pine alot, I find the lot
Falls through without you
I'm coming back love, cruel Heathcliff
My one dream, my only master

Too long I roam in the night
I'm coming back to his side to put it right
I'm coming home to wuthering, wuthering
Wuthering Heights

Heathcliff, it's me, Cathy, I've come home
I'm so cold, let me in in-a-your-window
Heathcliff, it's me, Cathy, I've come home
I'm so cold, let me in in-a-your-window

Ooh let me have it, let me grab your soul away
Ooh let me have it, let me grab your soul away
You know it's me, Cathy

Heathcliff, it's me, Cathy come home
I'm so cold, let me in in-a-your-window
Heathcliff, it's me, Cathy come home
I'm so cold, let me in in-a-your-window
Heathcliff, it's me, Cathy come home
I'm so cold

Glossary:
moors - charneca
roam - vaguear

Wuthering Heights is a famous work of Gothic fiction by Emily Brontë. It is a tale of all-consuming romantic passion. Heathcliff and Catherine (Cathy) are the main characters in Wuthering Heights. The title of the Portuguese version is O Monte dos Vendavais.

Here is my favourite quote from Wuthering Heights:
"If all else perished, and he remained, I should still continue to be; and if all else remained, and he were annihilated, the universe would turn to a mighty stranger: I should not seem a part of it." (Catherine, about Heathcliff)

Below, clips of the 1992 feature film adaptation of Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights to the sound of Kate Bush.

Interesting data: Kate Bush was born in London on July, 30, 1958. Emily Brontë was born on 30 July 1818 in Thornton, near Bradford in Yorkshire.
