Spoken word poetry session by Class 13: When Love Arrives

After listening to Sarah Kay and Phil Kaye's poem 'When Love Arrives', we had a spoken word poetry session. Here are the transcripts of some of the poems created and performed by the students:

When Love Arrives

R: When Love arrives

J: He comes with a naughty smile

R: The world stops spinning

J: ‘n I feel a squeeze in my heart

R: When Love shows up

J: He holds me tight, doesn’t let me go,                 

J: And I hear in my mind

R: "One love, one life

R: It's one need in the night"

J: But then I wake up and see it was a dream

R: Because Love goes away and without noticing 

Both: I lose a part of me… a part of me is broken

R: But Love only leaves me if I don’t take care of Him

Both: For Love…Love is perfect!

R, J, R: Still, with every word, every message, every letter …

Both: Love can be destroyed with just one gesture.



Love

B:When love has abandoned you, when love seems to have vanished, 
Both: Pooof! 
B: He just shows up! He's gorgeous, he has...
Both: blue eyes
B: And everytime I see the sky I only think of him and I
L: Love is great, Love is powerful, Love is everything I want.
B: It's like my whole world gravitates around him!
L: Love has moments to live and moments to die
B: There is truth and there are lies
L: But a storm comes between us
Both: and a war starts!
B: I don't know if I will survive
Both: My body will be fine but my soul might die.




When Love Ends

J: When love ends, sometimes it feels like the apocalypse
C: and sometimes it feels like you just got out of jail
J: You've got the urge to bring the house down...
C: with a party! But your mother doesn't let you do it.
J: You lock yourself in your bedrooom, open the window and jump
C: onto your bed and start dancing like some maniac to some song called "Hope you get hit by a truck"
Both: Hopefully it will happen.

Love

W: Love is like a wave
A: It can be big or small
W: There are many types of waves.
A: There are smooth waves, 
W: rough waves
A: and waves that can kill you.
W: All surfers fear some waves.
A: Riding a wave is like being with the person you love
W: There are waves that last a long time
A: waves that last just a moment
W: waves that last half an hour
Both: and waves that last forever.

When Love Ends

M: When love ends I feel sad
I feel terrible, horrible, I feel like I'm trapped in a cage.
I'm always crying, I get depressed.

S: No! Stop saying those awful things about love.
What do you know about it? You're just saying that because it's over.

M: Love is a nightmare
S: Love accepts differences
M: Love gives me headaches
S: I get butterflies in my stomach
M: Love makes me feel lonely.

S: No! When you're in love, you can hold your lover's hands and tell him how your day was, no matter how boring it was.
M: Is that so?
S: Yeah! And there's more: you can see 'Twilight' movies and say that you love Edward.
M: Hum. That would be wonderful.
S: Now, what can you say about love, what have you learnt?

M: Oh! Love is a river
Both: where you can drop your tears.
M: Love will
Both: help you.
M: Love will
Both: hear you.
M: Love will
Both: hug you and comfort you.
S: He will love you.

S: Wait! Love often isn't good enough. Loves often the tears that we drop. He's the one who makes a river.
M: Friendship is the one who fixes his mistakes - and, by the way, I prefer Jacob to Edward.
S: Yeah, love sucks!
