The Kiss

Compare this painting by Gustav Klimt to the poem by Sara Teasdale.
Besides the title, what is there in common between them?

The Kiss, by Austrian painter Gustav Klimt, oil and gold leaf on canvas, 1907–1908. 180 cm × 180 cm

The Kiss

I hoped that he would love me,
And he has kissed my mouth,
But I am like a stricken bird
That cannot reach the south.

For though I know he loves me,
To-night my heart is sad;
His kiss was not so wonderful
As all the dreams I had.

Sara Teasdale

GLOSSARY:
for = because (porque)
through - embora
