Painful Lessons

Kids in high school are too often the targets of emotional, mental, psychological and even physical abuse by their schoolmates.

Fear of violence should NOT be part of any high school curriculum.

Some kids who perpetrate violent acts in schools are just in need of help and guidance. Some have been victims of abuse before. The victims become the aggressors.

Becoming aware of the pain you may cause to others and of the pain you may be carrying inside you is the first step to change!

The pressures of a competitive school system, a lack of supervision by working parents, and the ready availability of violent video games and Internet pornography are to blame. Violent images in movies, TV or computer games CAN act as triggers for aggression. Kids copy bad behaviour out of curiosity, particularly when they can hide behind a group identity. Kids think violence is a game.

What is your opinion about the statements above?
